2024·PM · Frontend Lead · Full-stack
Guglu CA
Real-estate SaaS for home rentals. Led a 2-person frontend team and coordinated backend/mobile timelines. Upgraded to Next.js 14 with MUI Base — page load dropped 5s → 1s; PostgreSQL tuning shaved 30% off property-listing queries.
› Overview
A freelance engagement I led alongside my Buymed work. Guglu CA is a home-rental marketplace for the Canadian market — listings, search, virtual tours, and a tenant inbox.
› The problem
The startup had a working prototype but the page weights were heavy, search was slow, and the team was juggling backend, mobile, and frontend without a clear process. I came in as PM and frontend lead.
› What I built
- Designed the frontend architecture and led a 2-person frontend team end-to-end.
- Upgraded the stack to Next.js 14 with MUI Base + Bulma — a more disciplined component story.
- Coordinated task timelines for the backend and mobile teams; translated startup-client requirements into clear technical specs.
- Optimized PostgreSQL queries with proper indexing on the property-listing tables.
- Set up an Agile workflow with ClickUp, centralized documentation and tasks, and unblocked the team's on-time releases.
› Outcomes
- 5s → 1sPage load on listing pages after Next.js 14 + MUI Base
- 30%Query time saved on property-listing pages
- 20%SEO ranking improvement after the rewrite
- 25%Meeting time cut by centralizing in ClickUp
